Mount Vernon Family Restaurant has added
a new chef and specialty foods to its gourmet Greek and American
specialties. Mona Lisa Pizza is now being served to rave reviews.
Executive Pizza Chef Rene Riviera has joined
Chef Andreas at the Mount Vernon Family Restaurant to prepare
mouth-watering treats such as Veal Scaloppini, Calzones and your
favorite varieties of Mona Lisa Pizza."We really care about
our food, and I think that is what makes the difference,"
said Rivera.
Some of the specialty pizzas Rivera is
introducing are:
Mona Lisa Special:
a hearty heaping combo of four delicious meats - Ground Beef,
Sausage, Bacon and Pepperoni.
Veggie Delight:
a combination of Fresh Peppers, Onions, Italian Olives, Tomatoes
and Mushrooms.
BBQ Chicken Pizza:
a layer of Sautéed Onions covered with grilled and diced
BBQ Chicken topped with Mozzarella Cheese.
Bacon Cheeseburger
Pizza: a white pizza lightly based with Ketchup and Dijon Mustard
topped with Ground Beef, Diced Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Lettuce
and Tomatoes.
Taco Pizza: specially
seasoned meat on our lightly toasted, Homemade Pizza Crust covered
with Lettuce, Tomatoes and Cheddar Cheese garnished with Sour
Cream & Jalapenos.
Spinach Pizza:
our fresh dough basted with Olive Oil and Garlic, topped with
Mozzarella and Feta Cheeses, Spinach, Tomatoes and Onions.
And don't overlook the Calzones (stuffed
fresh dough turnovers):
Regular with Ricotta,
Mozzarella, Grated Cheese, Ham and Spices
Puglia with homemade
Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Mushrooms
Mozzarella with
Roasted Pepper Sausage with roasted Red Peppers, Garlic, Homemade
Sausage and Mozzarella.
Rivera has been in the kitchen all his
life. He started cooking at the age of seven at his family's
restaurant. Rivera said he learned from his mother's cooking,
but did not steal her recipes. From age 13 Rivera has been working
in Italian restaurants earning his title of Executive Pizza Chef.
"We only use freshly made dough and choice ingredients,"
said Rivera. And that is what will make Mona Lisa Pizza a family
favorite.
Chef Andreas, who has been a chef for 40
years and is well known for his delicious gourmet cuisine at
the Mount Vernon Family Restaurant, will still be preparing the
specialties which we now enjoy. His award winning Crab Cakes
are made with jumbo lump crab meat. Angus "preferred"
is the meat used to make Broiled Hamburgers. Shish Kabob is made
only with Filet Mignons. And his Greek dishes such as Greek Chicken,
Spanikopita and Avgolemono Lemon and Egg Soup are not to be missed.

consideration in making this a comfortable family restaurant,"
Rivera explained. The atmosphere and service is warm and friendly.
