Here's What To Expect At Custom Transmission Service

If your car's transmission is slipping or grinding, or if your transmission is leaking or making an unusual noise, the first step is to bring your car to Custom Transmission Service. If your car will not move, Custom Transmission will arrange to have your car towed.

Upon arrival Dave Miller, our general manager, will talk with you about what happened to your car and arrange for an external diagnostic inspection.

The external diagnostic inspection is a three-part comprehensive evaluation of your car's transmission. First, a technician checks the level and condition of the transmission fluid. Low fluid level may indicate a leak, while contaminated or burnt fluid may point to overheating or other transmission problems.

After the fluid has been checked, one of our technicians will take your car for a road test to experience first-hand any problems you have noticed and to evaluate your car's performance.

The last step of the external inspection is to put your car on a lift to inspect the controls underneath for any possible external causes to the problem. At this point we'll know if the transmission is not functioning properly, and if so, what type of transmission service is needed.

Sometimes the problem my be corrected with a simple external repair or adjustment. But if the transmission has something wrong internally it will need to be rebuilt. Rebuilding requires removing the transmission from the vehicle, disassembling the transmission, and inspecting the parts to determine which are damaged and need to be replaced. Rebuilding also requires that certain other parts like those parts made from soft materials, such as rubber or cork will also need to be replaced. Other parts, made from harder materials such as various types of metals, will also be inspected for excessive wear or a break may also need to be replaced.

Using new parts where needed, the transmission is rebuilt to our high quality standards.

After the rebuilding is complete, our technician will reinstall your car's transmission and road test the car to confirm that all problems have been corrected and the transmission is performing properly.

Your car will then be ready for you to get back on the road and comes with the peace of mind of our standard one-year 12,000 mile nationwide warranty. Additional warranties are available.
